Petroleum products' rate cut down by Rs4/litre

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Federal Cabinet has approved reduction in petroleum products by Rs4 per litre.

According to the sources, the ECC held its meeting here on Wednesday and decided to cut down the price of petroleum products by Rs4 per litre

Stocks continue to crash despite support efforts

	KARACHI: Bears continued their onslaught on the already wounded investors at the stock market and benchmark KSE-100 Index slumped 318 points to close at 9853 - below 10,000 points. KSE management's efforts to bail out small investors and the formation of the Market Support Fund was unable to boost investors' confidence as a weak macro economic indicators, fragile political and precarious law and order situation continued to haunt the market. Stock brokers said there was no buying from the market support fund whereas the supervisor of the fund, chairman NIT termed this impression as wrong. More than 130 million shares were traded today, which is 60 million shares more compared to yesterday's trade.

KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) index, goaded by the news of finance minister's directives for extending market support, which followed SECP measures, went scoring over two brilliant centuries.

Although the market opened downbeat, but the strong backup of the financial institutions buying shares gave enough support to the market that soon saw the index bouncing back to the positive zone, which lasted until the trading wrapped up. Thus, the KSE-100 index swelled up by 202 closed at 9909 points.

Turnover today higher by 20 million shares as compared yesterday aggregated to 80 million shares. Volume leader Arif Habib Securities surging by Rs4.75 ended at Rs118.17. Analysts said that the market in the days to come could be seen stabilizing

KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) at the onset of the trading week today went buoyant and upbeat spurred by the news of Moody's retaining Pakistan's rating at B2, which saw the KSE-100 index soared by 262 points and wrapping up at 10172.

Trading today commencing in a positive environment got a shot in the arm by the news of Moody's Investors affirming Pakistan's rating at B2, which sent the market dynamic and vibrant and index at one time during the trading surged by 300 points. Financial institutions and major brokers also joined in the melee of buying shares, which they found quite attractive at their earlier slump-hit low prices. But later at the closing, the investors preferring profit taking backtracked to selling that resulted in index failing to sustain the 10200 marks.

Turnover today aggregated to 121.9 million shares. Volume leader NIB Bank shares rising by Rs0.09 closed at Rs9.12. Among other companies, D. G. Khan cement increased by 0.89 closed at Rs48.98, while OGDCL soared by Rs4.45 closed at Rs111.60
