JustujuTV — March 24, 2010 — NOTE: THIS SHOW IS WITH "URDU" AUDIO AND ENGLISH SUB-TITLES Justuju Tv 2010-011 Pakistani National Values - Definition of Dear Ladies and Gentlemen Salaam. A very nice and beautiful day to you all. Pakistanis celebrated their 70th anniversary of Lahore Resolution, presented on March 23, and approved on March 24, 1940, at Manto Park, Lahore. This place is now known as Iqbal Park, and a towering Minar Monument stands tall there to mark this historic moment of life of Indian Muslims. At this time their demand for independent Muslim areas within the Indian Continent had not been named as PAKISTAN. Though Choudhry Rahmat Ali, still buried in England, had suggested this name. On approval of this Resolution, the Hindu opposition named it as Pakistan Resolution, and thus it came to be known as such from that point on. The world and its components, the countries and territories, require a management of its resources, its people, and follow a set of laws and practices to remain a peaceful and dignified country. Thus it requires a Vision, a Mission, and a set of Values to abide by to progress. Both in terms of Morals, and Economics. Jack Welch, the ex CEO of General Electric, in his landmark book, WINNING, has discussed the importance of Values in running an organization. Each modern business and NGO has a set of values that it teaches to its staff. So that they continue to work and progress within a set course of directions, policies and procedures. These sound like: We work together, We respect each other, and so on. So, what about a set of Pakistani National Values! We discuss this interesting management technique, and take the Pakistani founder leader, Quaid e Azam (Great Leader) Mohammad Ali Jinnah's famous 3 words: Unity, Discipline, and Faith as the core set of Pakistani values. Obviously, as a Muslim country, the faith in Islamic values is also ingrained in its people. We suggest to you to please watch this short episode, and kindly share it with your family, children, and friends. And give us your feed back too, at this preferred website of yours. Thanks. Best Regards. JustujuTv - All colors of life.  How big is your Ecological Footprint?‏ [] April 26, 2010 03:45:37 AM

When human beings walk through the Earth they leave footprints behind. Each footprint is a unique stamp of the individual, causing change in the structure of things around the person. The marks made by the footprints remain forever etched on the Earth and the wind and water that blow over it only cover that which cannot be erased. The impact of these marks remain long after the individual has departed from the world.  When talking about walking on Earth Almighty Allah says: The servants of the Beneficent, those who walk gently on Earth . ..  (25:63) Walking gently has been interpreted by Mufassireen as meaning a physical walk that treads lightly on Earth and a lifestyle that is humble and gentle.

Our Ecological walking style should also be light and gentle. Each one of us has an ecological footprint, the size of which depends on the demands we make of Nature. It measures how much land and water area we require to produce the resources we consume and to absorb the waste we produce. Many countries in today's world are running ecological deficits with footprints too large to be sustained biologically. The implications of these deficits can be devastating, resulting in loss of resources, collapse of the ecosystem, debt, poverty, famine  . . .  This type of corruption of the natural system due to the greed of man is referred to in the Holy Quran: Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of the doings of the people's hands . . . (30:41)

Individually, and collectively as a community, there is much we can do to decrease the size of our ecological footprint.  It is a serious matter which needs careful thought and planning. It means a change in lifestyle and the giving up of conveniences which we have become accustomed to. It means a return to old fashioned way of doing things, a conscious choice of living simply and making do with less. We need to live an examined life, one in which we determine what is important and enough, and discard the rest. There is compelling evidence that human beings are exceeding the earth's ability to regenerate resources, and there has to be a shift in our lives. This is not only to avoid an imminent calamity but also to avoid being of those who abuse and waste the resources provided by the Almighty. Allah dislikes those who waste and He says: Do not squander wastefully, surely the wasteful are the brothers of Shaytan, and Shaytan was ungrateful to his Lord. (17:26-27)

The following are some simple but effective ways of reducing the size of your ecological footprint. These should become a part of every conscientious believer's lifestyle.

1) Carry a plastic mug with you. Every year more than 25 billion Styrofoam cups and 25 billion water bottles are discarded, languishing in landfills for generations to come. Instead of adding to that waste load, carry a reusable mug and/or water bottle. 2) Use fabric bags for shopping. Avoid usage of plastic bags except when necessary such as for lining garbage cans. Almost a staggering trillion plastic bags are used worldwide each year and millions of these end up in the litter stream outside the landfills. 3) Spend less time in the shower. Reducing showering time by 2 minutes saves 10 galloons of water. 4) Use less paper. Over 300 galloons of water are used to produce every kg of paper. 5) Buy in bulk - avoid unnecessary packaging. 6) Clean without chemicals. Natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda clean well without harming the Earth. 7) Use compact fluorescent bulbs which use four times less energy. 8) Reduce usage of the dryer. Hang out clothes in the sun, or inside during cold weather and let clothes dry the old fashioned way. You will save the massive amount of energy used to operate the dryer, and your clothes will last longer too.

Many online sites show you how to measure the size of your ecological footprint. These sites also show the wide disparity in the footprints of the developed and the developing nations (Canada - 8.5, Iran - 1.8, India 0.7) and are glaring evidence of the excessive consumption of the richer nations. Check out these sites and measure your footprint. Make a conscious decision to respect the resources Allah has provided and show gratitude through appropriate usage. It is the only befitting response to the question God asks in the Quran after mentioning the favors He has created in Nature, Will they not then give thanks? (36:35)

Jobs in Middle east? Islamic human rights? [] January 10, 2010 08:29:25 AM

South Asian migrant workers (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal) have a notable contribution in the developments of Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf region. But the abuse and exploitation of these workers is shocking and serious issue. Migrant workers fuel the engine of the economy but they are exploited, abused, discriminated against, and rarely receive government protection.

There are numerous stories of human rights abuses. Just to give some examples:

Thousands of labors sell their belongings to go to Gulf countries for their dream job. Drishtipat reports how they are being exploited and come back with a broken heart.

Hundreds of Nepali workers in Qatar have been driven from the country for demanding better pay from their employers. United We Blog posts a shocking firsthand experience of a young Nepali student returning from America. He describes the inhuman treatment he received in Bahrain International airport because he protested the mistreatment of the deported Nepalis by the Gulf Airlines staffers.

In Kuwait, almost 60% of its 3 million population are migrant workers. Expositions of Arabia Blog chats with an Indian worker in Kuwait who claims he is underpaid.

In United Arab Emirates guest workers make up 85% of its population (reports IHT). Here people from the subcontinent earns about $1 an hour working in scorching 43 degrees heat. Their contracts are critiqued as servitude. While there are hotel rooms that rent for $1000 a night for the prosperous people, these migrant workers rise before dawn in guarded camps like an army base, work for six days a week at guarded sites. There are thousands of heat exhaustion cases of workers each month in one medical facility alone. The Government is under pressure to improve the working conditions and crack downs on Employers who does not pay them.

Human rights watch also has a report on abuse of workers in UAE titled "Building Towers, Cheating Workers".

Non-Saudis make up 35 percent of Saudi Arabia's labor force. An estimated 2 million workers are from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Human rights Watch publishes a 135 page report "Bad Dreams: Exploitation and Abuse of Migrant Workers in Saudi Arabia", which depicts how many of the immigrant workers are abused and treated as slaves.

Some of the frightening and troubling findings of the reports are:

* Sexual abuse and rape of women migrant workers, both in the workplace and in Saudi prisons by Saudi male employers.
* Migrant workers from Bangladesh, India and Phillipines were forced to work ten to eighteen hours a day, and sometimes throughout the night without overtime pay.
* The pay is very meager (e.g. $133 for a month and 16 hours of work daily)
* Hundreds of low-paid Asian women who cleaned hospitals in Jeddah worked twelve-hour days, without food or a break, and were confined to locked dormitories during their time off.
* Migrant workers experienced shocking treatment in Saudi Arabia's criminal justice system.

Abdol Moghset Bani Kamal writes in Countercurrents that Migrant Workers are the slaves of the Twenty-First Century. He highlights on the plight of Pakistani workers in the Middle East region especially Saudi Arabia.
