Nail Care
To make your nails appear attractive, you have to take regular care of your nails. You can seek the services of manicurists and pedicurists. However, if you are unwilling to spend money in availing professional service, you can yourself easily take care of your nails.
Despite your longing for long nails, remember not to allow your nails to grow more than ΒΌ-inch over the tip of your finger. Longer nails break easily and are difficult to maintain. Do not cut the cuticles.
This would make the new cuticles, which would grow after sometime, thicker. Instead, apply a drop of any vegetable or body oil on the cuticle, and with a small wooden spatula, push them gently back.
Applying nail polish
Before applying the nail polish, completely clean it will cotton dipped in a nail polish remover. This would remove any trace of your previous nail polish or any oil or lotion. It is advisable to avoid the cheaper acetone based nail polish removers.
Now apply a thin base coating of the nail enamel. Apply the color, by moving the brush away from the base, towards the nail tip. After the first coat dries up, apply the second coating of the nail enamel. Do not apply thick coats.
Thin coats will allow the nail color to spread evenly, without the danger of forming bubbles, and consequent peeling of the nail polish. While applying the nail color, remember to apply the nail enamel around the edge of the nails and below the nail tip.
To allow the color to last for a long time, do not keep your hands drenched in water for over fifteen minutes. Try to apply a topcoat everyday. This makes the nail enamel last for as long as you want it to stay on the nails
